THE LATINOS OF ASIA

Though the definition of the term Hispanic may vary, it generally refers to people, cultures, or countries related to Spain, the Spanish language, or Hispanidad. It is commonly applied to countries once part of the Spanish Empire.

Unfamiliar to many, The Philippines (Las Islas Filipinas) was once part of the Spanish Empire as much as the countries of Latin America, Equatorial Guinea, and Spanish Sahara.
Filipinos retain many Hispanic influences as a result of three centuries (1521-1898) of Spanish colonization, making Filipinos share various cultural and traditional similarities with their Mexican "cousins".
Though the Philippines is no longer a Spanish-speaking country, Filipinos still use many Spanish words, phrases, and names as well as their own versions of Spanish & Latin American cuisines, such as Paella, Empanadas, Flan and Ceviche. And yes, Tapas is also a thing in the Philippines, and it´s called, Pulutan.
The word PLATITO, is derived from Spanish and Filipino word meaning: Small dish/plate or saucer.
